Starring Harry Hamlin as Lou Lamoriello and Laurence Olivier as The Hockey God.
Mike and Dan take stock and take cover as the Islanders rack up both wins and casualties in a battle against the Hockey Gods.
By stretching their winning streak to a “disastrous” seven games – before a gallant, teasing loss to the Stanley Cup champion Panthers – the Islanders reinserted themselves in the Eastern Conference playoff race. That’s the good news. The bad news is that they continue to lose bodies, the latest being Mat Barzal and Scott Mayfield, and their surprisingly effective junkyard blueline might not be able to withstand much more punishment.
Their three tough upcoming games will go a long way towards determining how the rest of the season goes, but as of right now, demigod Lou Lamoriello is trying to fight off the deities playing games with his people.
In the second half, we go deep into another Master Pens Theater and learn why you cannot make Sidney Crosby trade proposals or question Kyle Dubas’s moves, even the bad ones. We also get a look at the JT Miller trade from the Vancouver side and what it has to do with Bo Horvat.
