The New York Rangers suffered a big blow to their lineup. News of the Adam Fox injury emerged on Wednesday afternoon. The Norris Trophy-winning defenceman was placed on injured reserve with an upper-body injury. Fox will miss time, but there’s hope he can return before the end of the season.

New York Rangers Adam Fox Suffers Injury and Put on IR
The Jericho, New York native suffered an injury after colliding with the New York Islanders Kyle MacLean. He left the ice holding shoulder and he’ll now be out at least seven days as per the rules of putting someone on the IR. The Rangers did win 5-1 over their rivals. However, it was a costly loss to their blueline.
Fox has only played for the Rangers across his six-year NHL career. He has five goals and 43 assists for 48 points in 58 games this season for New York. The 27-year-old has a Corsi for of 57.7 and a relative Corsi of 14.4.
Fox has 58 goals and 298 assists for 356 points in 415 career games. The Calgary Flames originally drafted him in the third round, 66th overall of the 2016 NHL Draft. However, he was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes, who ended up dealing him to the Blueshirts.
The veteran defenceman won the Norris Trophy in 2020-21 and is a three-time NHL All-Star.
What The Adam Fox Injury Means
The is a massive loss for the Rangers, who are two points off the final wild card spot in the Eastern Conference. New York also had K’Andre Miller in the same game. However, there is no update on Miller.
These injuries could affect general manager Chris Drury and his trade deadline plans. New York might have to keep Ryan Lindgren so the team has some cover. Lindgren was thought to be on his way out. However, he may need to stay.
New York called up Matthew Robertson from the AHL to fill in the roster spot. The Rangers now have to forge on without a vital defender.
